Are you interested in learning about another culture?

Every year TCI organises work experience for students in Japan who want to spend a few weeks in Australia as a part of their tertiary education. They will be attending a kindergarten for the working week and likely making the most of their short stay enjoying tourism activities on the weekends. It is a great opportunity to expose your family to a foreign culture and you will be reimbursed. However, we strongly encourage potential host families to apply for the interest in meeting new people and providing them with fond memories of Australia, rather than for financial reasons. It is the responsibility of TCI Support Australia to provide effective supervision. Where appropriate to reduce the risk of child abuse or neglect occurring, Travel Centre International must check that all potential host family members are not prohibited persons under the Child Protection (Prohibited Employment) Act 1998 - for details please consult http://www.legislation.nsw.gov.au/sessionalview/sessional/act/1998-147.pdf A prohibited person is one who has been convicted of a serious sex offence involving sexual activity or acts of indecency, which was punishable by penal servitude or imprisonment for 12 months or more. Any host family meber who fails to disclose their prohibited person status will be guilty of an offence. Prohibited family members will not be eligible for hosting. If you or one of your household members are found to be a prohibited person under the Act, Travel Centre International will undertake the necessary investigation, disciplinary and reporting procedure.
